Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa’s Void Filled By Hon Yakubu Dogara. By Ibrahim Sule Marrang

Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa’s Void Filled By Hon Yakubu Dogara. By Ibrahim Sule Marrang; Alhaji Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa was the First Prime Minister of Independent Nigeria and one of Nigeria’s greatest politicians as he was one who fought for the right of his people and not for his pockets as he was among the forerunners in the struggle for independence. As the Prime Minister, He made the speech to claim Nigeria as an Independent Country.

RT Hon Dr. Yakubu Dogara, The 14th and the only Speaker of the 8th Assembly and the only Speaker to complete four years and successfully return to the Green Chamber.

Both of them are from the Southern part of Bauchi state and are from the tribes of Bogoro and Tafawa Balewa respectively.

These two icons both have about the same leadership charisma and they both share the same attitude of expressing the power in Africans when it comes to delivering their powerful speech. But Dogara in a speech said,

“I’m no were near to Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa”.

Hon Yakubu Dogara was born exactly one year after the passing away of the Great Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa. These two Great Nigerian Politicians share the same birth month, December, and from the same constituency, and one can’t be out of place to call him the Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa.

Sir Abubakar Tafawa is the highest elected person from the northeast geopolitical zone, and the second person is Alhaji Atiku Abubakar who served as the Vice president for two terms and the Third person is Yakubu Dogara who served as the 8th assembly Speaker of the House of Representatives.
In the political hierarchy in the history of the northeast region, Yakubu Dogara is unarguably a political bigwig whose influence can’t be overemphasized let alone be swept under the carpet.

Some similarities between him and Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa include philanthropist activities, inclusiveness, justice, equity, fairness, competence, productivity, efficiency, and integrity.

They are good ambassadors of Bauchi state and the Northeast geopolitical zone at large.

Both of them have made a major impact in their careers as politicians in their early forties to early fifties as we hope to see more action from the Former Speaker and current member of the House of Representatives.

They both have brought a healthy and breathtaking international relationship to the Nigerian people, History has it that The Late Sir Abubakar was a highly respected man by the international community and was awarded the title Sir” by the Queen of England and was also awarded citizenship of the USA.

The now Hon Dr. Yakubu Dogara has also made a high level of mutual relationship and friendship across the federation based on equity, fairness, and justice irrespective of ethnicity, tribe, region, political ideology, religion, or gender.

These two political heavyweights are ancestrally related and have surely followed the same path to bring great development to the people of Nigeria and I think it is in the best interest of Nigerians to support Yakubu Dogara to become or attain a similar feat as the iconic Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa in the nearest future because age, competence, and experience are still on his side.

As a law interpretation officer who later became a lawmaker, Yakubu Dogara knows the intrigues and importance of making and interpreting laws, what’s left for him now is to venture into the executive farm for the execution of the law.

The Nigerian youths have an asset in Yakubu Dogara because he’s a detribalized Nigerian who gives equal opportunity for all to thrive in an open and accountable leadership and such can be seen when he was the 8th assembly Speaker of the House of Representatives.
